The definitive family Thailand.

Thailand's classic route splits the country into two very different halves. Bangkok is the urban capital: temples, tuk-tuks, rooftop skyline dinners and one of Asia's best malls. Phuket is the beach — resort villas, warm water, day-trips to the Phi Phi islands and family activities that never stop. This six-night route is the version Indian families repeatedly choose for its balance: three culture days, three beach days, no long transfers.

It's perfect for families with children of any age, first-time Southeast Asia travellers, and couples who want value-luxury with beach time. It's not for backpackers heading to Khao San Road or party travellers hitting Full Moon on Koh Phangan — those routes are separate. This is a well-mannered Thailand designed for repeat travellers who want the reliable version.

Pace is easy. One internal flight (Bangkok → Phuket) saves a 12-hour drive. Bangkok gets a full culture day and a shopping day; Phuket gets a resort day, a Phi Phi day and an Old Town day. Children love the tuk-tuks in Bangkok, the elephant sanctuary in Phuket (ethical, no riding) and the beach-club afternoons.

Luxury is quiet-premium. You'll stay at the Mandarin Oriental Bangkok (a 150-year-old riverside legend) and Rosewood Phuket on Emerald Bay. Both offer complimentary family amenities: connecting rooms, kids' menus, Indian-vegetarian breakfast. Lower tiers use Anantara Riverside Bangkok and Kata Rocks in Phuket.

Food is the reason Thailand is on every food list. Pad thai, tom yum, green curry, mango sticky rice — everyone knows the classics, but the route adds a private street-food tour in Bangkok and a Thai cooking class in Phuket that both work brilliantly for vegetarian and Jain travellers. Indian-vegetarian menus are pre-briefed with every restaurant.

Culturally, expect the Grand Palace and Wat Pho reclining Buddha in Bangkok, an early-morning tuk-tuk ride through Chinatown, and Phuket Old Town's Sino-Portuguese architecture (which most Phuket-only visitors miss). Shopping runs from EmQuartier's designer floors to Chatuchak weekend market to Patong's night bazaar — you'll leave with something.

Seasonally, November to March is dry and mild — the best window. April is hot; May to October is monsoon with short afternoon rain. Christmas and New Year are peak. Diwali travellers get value pricing.

Photographically, the standout frames are Wat Arun at blue hour, the tuk-tuks in Chinatown at night, longtail boats at Maya Bay (Phi Phi), and the Rosewood pool decks at sunset. Ask the specialist for a shot list if photography matters.

Every element is customisable — swap Phuket for Krabi, add Chiang Mai for elephants and hill temples, or extend to Koh Samui for a longer beach stretch.

Traveller Stories

What our travellers are saying.

Real feedback from families and couples.

  • Two kids under 12, and every day was booked. Vegetarian food was ready everywhere. Best family holiday we've done.

The Shah FamilyAhmedabad · Family of 4 · December 2025
  • Mandarin Oriental Bangkok is worth the money — the river breakfast alone. Phi Phi was crowded (of course) but the 8 a.m. slot at Maya Bay was manageable.

    Rhea & KaranMumbai · Couple · November 2025
  • Tuk-tuk food tour was the highlight of Bangkok. The specialist paced everything perfectly.

Priya MenonBengaluru · Solo (with mother) · October 2025
  • Added Chiang Mai. The elephant sanctuary was a highlight for the kids. Value-luxury done right.

    Rohit & FamilyDelhi · Family of 5 · May 2025
  • Rosewood Phuket is a proper resort — private beach, great pools, kid-free hours. Would go back.
